Former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is already lining up head coaching opportunities, on top of being requested as an OC hire.

The Miami Dolphins made the ultimate decision to move on from head coach Mike McDaniel after four seasons, and it was believed that he would receive interviews for at least a coordinator position.

Apart from the Detroit Lions reaching out, McDaniel has already received his first interview for a head coaching opportunity.

Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, McDaniel has received an interview request from the Tennessee Titans for their open head coaching vacancy. This is the first head coaching opportunity the former Dolphins coach has received thus far.

McDaniel was and still is regarded as one of the better offensive minds in the league, and he worked wonders in offensive schemes with a more limited quarterback in Tua Tagovailoa. Granted, Tagovailoa was a solid quarterback in every season but 2025, but Cam Ward would be a better option to see what McDaniel can truly do.

McDaniel is expected to interview with the Titans on Wednesday.

As mentioned, the Lions reached out about their open offensive coordinator position, and there have been more reports indicating the Cleveland Browns are also interested in bringing McDaniel in for a head coach interview.

Despite being relieved of his duties, it was expected that McDaniel would be a huge consideration for offensive coordinator positions, considering he served in that role for the San Francisco 49ers before being hired by the Dolphins.

If McDaniel does not land another head coaching opportunity, he may look to become a coordinator, and signing with the Lions would make a lot of sense.

With Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and more on the offense, McDaniel could become the right kind of mind to get the most out of this already dangerous group.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell took over offensive playcalling for John Morton during the season, and Morton was subsequently fired following the conclusion of the 2025 regular season.

Should McDaniel ultimately be hired by the Lions, he would have his revenge game already lined up in 2026. The Dolphins will play Detroit at home in 2026.

McDaniel also potentially landing with the Titans or Browns would also set up a revenge game at some point, consdering both teams are in the AFC alongside the Dolphins.
