Former Miami Dolphins All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill is predicted to land with this AFC contender.
Former Miami Dolphins All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill is predicted to land with his former team and AFC contender, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Fox Sports writer Ben Arthur listed some of the top free agents still on the open market and who should go after them. Arthur listed the Chiefs for Hill.
"Hill’s status for 2026 remains unclear after dislocating his left knee and tearing multiple ligaments, including his ACL, last September. But after an unceremonious end to his Miami Dolphins’ tenure, a return to the Chiefs makes sense, health-enabling. He would provide much-needed veteran depth for a wide receiver room that’s seen uneven play since his departure from Kansas City in 2022.”
Hill’s availability for the 2026 season remains a question mark as he is recovering from a brutal left knee dislocation and multi-ligament tear (including his ACL) that he suffered in Week 4 of last season.
While that is the case, Hill is among the big names still looking for a team.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter provided an update on why Hill hasn’t signed yet. Schefter said that the closer we get to training camp, the better the chances he has to sign with a team; however, the biggest question mark remains his injury.
"I think some of these free agent wide receivers will be able to hand-pick their opportunities right before training camp," Schefter said. "Maybe a week or two into camp."
"Tyreek Hill is in an injury situation where he may not be ready till midway through the season."
Hill returning to where it all started for him makes sense on a football level. The offense is a perfect fit for him as he is familiar with it and star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
As for why it may not fit, Hill’s age (32) and long-term planning may not align. He’s on the wrong side of the age curve for a speed-based receiver.
In a vaccum, a Hill- Chiefs reunion makes sense due to the on-field chemistry.
Miami traded for Hill in the 2022 offseason from the Chiefs.
In exchange for five draft picks: a 2022 first-round pick (No. 29), second-round pick (No. 50) and fourth-round pick, plus fourth- and sixth-round picks in the 2023 draft.
Following the trade, the Georgia native signed a massive four-year, $120 million deal.
At the time, the deal made Hill the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history.
Hill’s fourth and final season with the Dolphins ended in injury, but outside of that, it was quite the ride. His time down in South Beach was one to reminisce, as he recorded 340 catches for 4,733 yards, scored 29 touchdowns and averaged 87.6 yards per contest in 59 games.
Hill was healthy for most of his Miami tenure outside of 2025. The big question now is where the five-time First-team All-Pro will land.
