The Miami Dolphins have claimed a new defensive end to add to the roster on Friday.
The Miami Dolphins are set to face off against the AFC East rival New England Patriots in Week 8 NFL action. After defeating the New York Jets last week, the team is looking to keep the momentum going with a shocking upset against another division opponent.
At the end of the day, the Dolphins enter this week's game as heavy underdogs. Very few expect them to have a chance to win.
Despite the 1-5 start to the season, Miami continues trying to tweak with the roster. That was seen once again on Friday afternoon when the front office brought in a new defensive end.
According to a report from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Dolphins claimed defensive end Jamree Kromah on waivers. He was waived by the Chicago Bears following their blockbuster trade to acquire superstar defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans.
Kromah played in two games this season with the Bears. He recorded two total tackles in a limited role.
During his college career, Kromah spent his first three seasons with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights before transferring to James Madison. He was a standout for James Madison in 2023, his final college season, racking up 58 tackles and 10 sacks.
Standing in at 6-foot-3 and around 270 pounds, Kromah has excellent size for the defensive end position. He will now have a chance to make a name for himself on a team who needed more pass rushing depth.
Kromah went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft. He signed with the Bears and has also spent time with the Patriots on the practice squad.
This isn't the kind of move that will change the direction of the Dolphins' season. They are simply taking a look at younger players and giving opportunities. Finding diamonds in the rough is crucial for a team looking to rebuild and get back into playoff contention.
It will be interesting to see whether or not Kromah can carve out some playing time for himself in Miami. At the very least, he has shown enough to generate some interest from the Dolphins.
Miami made the move to release defensive end Rob Beal to make room for Kromah. Beal played in two games for the Dolphins this season, recording a single tackle. He has totaled 37 tackles and a sack in 27 NFL games played between Miami and the San Francisco 49ers.
