Could the Miami Dolphins actually end up being a potential landing spot for star quarterback Lamar Jackson?

The Miami Dolphins have been happy with what they have seen from new starting quarterback Malik Willis so far this season. After making the decision to move on from Tua Tagovailoa, Willis has shown some signs of being a potential long-term option.

Willis was signed to a lucrative three-year, $67.5 million contract early on during NFL free agency. The team did not hesitate to pursue him after cutting ties with Tagovailoa.

So far this season, Willis has played solid football. In seven games played, the 27-year-old quarterback has completed 59 percent of his pass attempts for 1,268 yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions. He has also chipped in with 225 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Jeff Hafley has been very vocal about his happiness with how Willis has developed. However, what Willis has provided for the Dolphins has not stopped the outside rumors.

On Monday, former Dallas Cowboys star Michael Irvin made an appearance on "First Take." He suggested that Miami could be the ideal destination for current Baltimore Ravens superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Irvin noted that Jackson could be an "international icon" if he were to play for the Dolphins.

Since being drafted No. 32 overall by the Ravens in the 2018 NFL Draft, Jackson has shown continued development. He has won two NFL MVP awards. Miami would have a hard time passing up an opportunity to acquire Jackson even if it meant moving on from Willis.

Jackson has been going through a disappointing 2026 season with Baltimore. He has dealt with multiple injuries, the latest being a thumb injury that occurred in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills that landed him on the IR.

Over the years, the 29-year-old superstar has completed 64.9 percent of his pass attempts for 23,575 yards, 193 touchdowns, and 57 interceptions in 121 games, while also running for 6,666 yards and 36 touchdowns.

Whether or not the Dolphins will actually pursue Jackson or not remains to be seen. Even though he has had some issues with the Ravens, he could simply re-sign long-term with his current franchise.

That being said, if he were to become available, Miami would make a lot of sense.

Expect to hear plenty of rumors about the Dolphins' future as the season moves forward. The franchise badly wants to get back to being a Super Bowl contender and acquiring a player like Jackson would be a big step in that direction.
