Here are three of the biggest X-Factors for the Philadelphia Eagles to win this week against the Jaguars.
Coming off a second straight loss, there is now a sense of urgency for the Philadelphia Eagles entering Week 5 of the NFL season.
Philadelphia started the year 2-0, but the team has struggled to find its footing in each of the last two weeks. Much of this has to do with the offense of the Eagles, seeing the group put together two lackluster performances.
Now, the Eagles will be heading to London to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars, giving this team a real challenge entering the week. And to make life tougher for Philadelphia, they will be playing this game without star running back Saquon Barkley and star wide receiver DeVonta Smith, with each player dealing with a hamstring injury.
Philadelphia comes into the game with a record of 2-2, with the unit looking to get back on track. The Jaguars are currently 3-1 on the season, as they try to keep pushing forward.
Here are three of the biggest X-Factors for the Eagles to turn their season around against Jacksonville this week:
1. Pressure Trevor Lawrence
With the Eagles dealing with injuries on the offensive side of the ball, the defense is going to be called upon to step up eve more. Players like Nolan Smith, Jordan Davis, and others are going to have to pressure Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence all game.
If the Eagles defense can do its part, the offense may be able to do just enough to win the game. But making sure to get Lawrence uncomfortable early on will be a key for this unit.
2. Can the Eagles Run the Ball?
With Barkley and bis backup, Tank Bigsby out, the Eagles will be turning to Will Shipley in the backfield. Shipley has rushed for 51 yards this season, but this will be his chance to prove what he can do.
If Shipley can give the Eagles anything of note, it could help open the passing game of the offense. The performance from Shipley may be the biggest determination in whether the Eagles are able to leave London with a win or not.
3. Jalen Hurts Masterclass
For all the narratives and talk around quarterback Jalen Hurts over the last two seasons, he has won a Super Bowl MVP in his career. Hurts is a talented player who can take a game over when he's on fire.
The Eagles are going to need their leader to play a strong game by getting the offense together, even without the stars on the field. It will be a challenge, but Hurts is more than capable of stepping up for this franchise.
