The Philadelphia Eagles came away with a 24-22 win over the Washington Commanders on Sunday in Philadelphia, a good win against a division opponent.
The Eagles will always be under a microscope because of how good this team can be, and I wouldn't say they played perfectly, but a division win is a division win at the end of the day.
Regarding some things that Washington did during that game, one could argue that Stefon Diggs jumping up on the goalpost after the touchdown put Philadelphia in a better spot. The Eagles and Commanders were separated by just two points, with Philadelphia holding the lead with about 10 minutes left to play on Sunday. Diggs jumped and wrapped himself around the goalpost, which ultimately drew a flag for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Instead of going for two points, the Commanders had to take an extra point. According to Jayden Daniels and head coach Dan Quinn, the idea was to go for two points and try to tie the game up.
"You just got to be smarter, we've got to know situational football. That's on me for not reiterating that in the huddle, we just got to be smart," Daniels said after the game, per FOX. "There's a time and place for everything and celebrations."
"I'm pretty sure at that point we would've went for two, we had to settle for the extra point, but as the leader and the captain man I put that on myself for not reiterating that in the huddle knowing that we had a potential to score on the play while we're in the huddle and just reiterating when we score, we're going for two," Daniels said.
“Yeah, we were going to go for two,” Dan Quinn said.
The Commanders scored again late in the fourth quarter, but the Eagles' defense got a big-time stop on a questionable play call: a forward pass from Daniels.
Instead, Washington got two chances to do that, but Philadelphia lucked out by not having to deal with a second two-point conversion earlier in the game.
