Eagles' AJ Brown Replacement Reveals Promising Relationship With Jalen Hurts

Moving on from wide receiver AJ Brown certainly shouldn't have been an easy decision for the Philadelphia Eagles, though it seemed like an obvious one after the moves the organization had made throughout the beginning of the offseason.

Had the Eagles known they had no plans to trade Brown, the decisions they made prior to that wouldn't have happened. Among them was making a move for Dontayvion Wicks, a wide receiver who was with the Green Bay Packers.

Wicks is a young player who looks like he has a lot of potential in this league will be one of the focal points of the Eagles' offense. There’s much to be excited about in the short and long-term.

It remains uncertain how much we should trust him just yet, as he certainly isn't the same caliber player that Brown is, but there's been a lot to like from the young man over his first few seasons in Green Bay.

He also seems very welcomed in Philadelphia, and he appears to have a great relationship with quarterback Jalen Hurts early on.

“It showed me the value and love that Philly has for me,” Wicks said during the Eagles' OTA practices, per NBCS Philly. “I want to come out and show I am worthwhile being here. I am thankful.”

“Me and J-Hurts talk a lot since I have been here,” Wicks said with a smile when asked about his relationship with the quarterback. “Trying to get that chemistry right with us, we know what is at stake. It has been fun to do things with him and get together outside of here. It’s always good to have a relationship with your QB, he is one of those guys that wants to talk to us.”

As crazy as it might sound, while Brown is obviously a better player, it might be better to have a superstar receiver like DeVonta Smith and a bunch of other guys who are above average and get along with Hurts. If this offense has the necessary chemistry to succeed at the highest level, I don't think it's crazy to say we could see Philadelphia's offense be what we were used to seeing.

“Me and Smitty talked before I got here,” Wicks said. “He is a great guy to look up to every day. The pro he is, how he comes into work, taking care of his body — those are little things that I watch and I can pick up on with him being the older guy in the room. I am trying to get to that point in my career, that is the best thing for me, being behind [Smith].”
