Over the last couple of weeks, the rumors surrounding Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver A.J. Brown have reached an all-time high.
At this point in time, it would almost be surprising if he wasn't traded during the offseason. Despite the talent that he brings to the field, the unfortunate reality is that Brown has become more of a distraction than an asset for the Eagles.
Plenty of reports have suggested at animosity between Brown and star quarterback Jalen Hurts. That has led to where the situation currently stands.
With that being said, a major new update has been shared about when Philadelphia could make its final decision regarding the future of Brown with the team.
According to a report from Eagles insider Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the team is expected to make a decision about Brown's future sooner rather than later.
Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio also weighed in with his opinion on the matter.
"With the negotiation period for free agents opening on March 9, the Eagles presumably would want to move quickly to replace Brown, if they’ll be trading him. Still, they won’t do the deal unless they get what they want," Florio wrote.
In addition, Florio also named some potential trade destinations to watch.
He suggested that the New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, and Los Angeles Chargers are all potential suitors for Brown this offseason.
During the 2025 NFL season with the Eagles, Brown ended up playing in 15 games. He caught 78 passes for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns.
Those numbers were solid, but it was clear that he was unhappy during parts of the last two seasons. There was one moment in particular where Brown was caught reading a book on the sideline during the middle of a game.
Only time will tell whether or not Philadelphia actually decides to pull the trigger on trading Brown out of town. Losing his production on the field would be a tough blow for the Eagles' offense.
Unfortunately, at the end of the day, the 2025 season didn't go as planned and Brown's presence could be more of a negative than a positive at this point in time.
