It's not the worst idea.

Suddenly, the Philadelphia Eagles find themselves in a position where they might have to land another quarterback.

Reports indicated last week that the team was interested in bringing back Andy Dalton after releasing him, but Dalton chose a different direction.

With Jalen Hurts out for the remainder of the season after a tough blood clot diagnosis, Philadelphia finds itself in a very strange position with Tanner McKee. McKee, who many believe could be a decent option for this organization, is a fine player in his own right, but nothing more than that.

The harsh reality is that he isn't likely to come in and win 10-plus games for the Eagles, though it's also fair to say there aren't many quarterbacks in the league who will.

As for some guys around the league who could potentially be of interest to the Eagles, someone like Mason Rudolph makes a lot of sense. Rudolph, similar to McKee in the sense that they haven't been starters for a lot of their careers, has questions about him as a player as well.

However, he's probably proven more than McKee has at this stage of his career.

Bleacher Report recently suggested the Pittsburgh Steelers could make him available, noting Philadelphia could be interested.

“Of course, the Steelers are unlikely to find a strong market for Rudolph now, especially after the Atlanta Falcons added Andy Dalton for insurance. Quarterbacks like Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Baker Mayfield have already returned or are close to returning from injury. Rudolph, who has made 20 career starts (including playoffs), will be most valuable if and when another team loses its starter for an extended period.

“That said, there are a few franchises that should view him as an upgrade over their current depth. Potential Suitors: Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles,” Bleacher Report wrote

Barring an injury to starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers in Pittsburgh, Rudolph likely won't get much playing time this season. Pittsburgh is also in a position where it could look to move on from quarterbacks, considering it has Drew Allar and Will Howard behind Rodgers and Rudolph.

It would be interesting to move on from their one veteran backup, but the Steelers are banking on Rodgers' health regardless, so if they can get assets in return for a guy like Rudolph, it might not be the wrong decision.
