Eagles' Andy Dalton Believes He's Taking Strides as Hopeful QB2

The Philadelphia Eagles have a quarterback decision to make over the next few weeks, and it doesn't have anything to do with Jalen Hurts, obviously. Hurts is the clear QB1 and has a real opportunity to be one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL this season once again.

By his standards, he struggled a good bit last year, but it's not unfair to say that he's going to continue being the guy that Philadelphia has expected him to be outside of last season.

Regarding the QB2 situation, Philadelphia isn't in the best spot.

Some players in the quarterback room have a ton of experience, and others are hopeful they can become what Philadelphia needs, but none have a clear case as the backup. As of right now, the Eagles have more questions than answers at the QB2 spot. It's unfortunate that's the case, but it's the reality, even with veteran Andy Dalton. Dalton hasn't looked good throughout the preseason, but he believes that he's getting comfortable and is happy with some of the strides the team has made.

“I think every week we were getting more comfortable in the offense. I mean, the same for me,” Dalton said, per NBCS Philly.

“I've been in a system like this before, but every offense has its own nuances and different things. And so I think I saw, you know, for me personally and for just the offense as a whole, we were taking strides and getting more comfortable with everything that we were doing.”

I don't want to say that Dalton doesn't deserve a spot in the quarterback room, but from what I've seen out of him over the past couple of weeks, he just feels like a guy who's far past his playing days.

Not that he's going to hurt Philadelphia, so to speak, but he isn't going to come in and be some savior for the offense if Hurts were to get injured.

A lot needs to happen over the next couple of days, and Dalton is expected to be one of those decisions, one way or the other.
