The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Washington Commanders 29-18 on Saturday, clinching their second-straight NFC East title.
With their second-straight division title, the Eagles have broken a long streak, as there had been no repeat NFC East winner since Philadelphia won division titles from 2001 to 2004. Their win also eliminated the Dallas Cowboys from playoff contention.
The Eagles have now won two games in a row and are heading into the playoffs as they look to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
In their win over the Commanders, Hurts played at an efficient level. He completed 22 of 30 passes for 185 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. His play has been criticized this season, but he has been more consistent over the past two weeks.
Wide receiver A.J. Brown had a productive game, hauling in nine receptions for 95 yards. However, it was running back Saquon Barkley who stole the show. He rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries.
Philadelphia was very successful in the 2024 season due to Barkley's elite play. He won Offensive Player of the Year, rushing for 2,005 yards and 13 touchdowns. Barkley also had 33 receptions for 278 yards and two touchdowns.
However, his numbers have dropped significantly in 2025, as he's rushed for 1,072 yards and seven touchdowns. Barkley has added 37 receptions for 273 yards and two touchdowns in the passing game.
As the Eagles go back into the postseason, they will need Barkley to play at a high level. Philadelphia's offense plays its best when Barkley is in a groove, as it opens up the play-action game and allows Hurts to take off more.
While the Eagles have clinched the division, there is still seeding to play for as they could finish with the second seed in the NFC. Philadelphia will finish off the season with a matchup against the Buffalo Bills and a rematch against the Commanders.
Securing the No. 2 seed would give Philadelphia at least one home playoff game and a better chance of making it back to the Super Bowl, but their matchup against the Bills will be difficult.
