Eagles Could Help Jets by Making Trade Ahead of Regular Season Start

If the Philadelphia Eagles want to get creative over the next couple of days, two weeks before the regular season starts, there are some teams around the league that could benefit from making a trade with them.

The Eagles opted to keep four quarterbacks on their roster, a decision that really didn't surprise me. As Philadelphia continues to try to improve on both sides of the ball, Howie Roseman has always said he's willing to move one of his four quarterbacks if the right deal comes up. Outside of Jalen Hurts, I'd go as far as to say that there's a package out there for any of the three other guys.

In searching for a team that could be interested in a quarterback from Philadelphia, it was recently said that the New York Jets could be among them. The Jets, who have Cade Klubnik as their QB2, might want a veteran to come in and have to play if Geno Smith were to get injured.

“I would keep an eye on the waiver wire or the late trade market to flip a late-round pick for a proven quarterback that the Jets can have as their backup to Geno Smith. Two of the names that I like a lot over in Philadelphia, just down the turnpike: Andy Dalton and Tanner McKee. Especially McKee, he really fits what Frank Reich might want in a quarterback, and maybe someone you can develop a little bit and see if you can’t potentially even make him into a starter.

“That’s probably wishful thinking, but still a guy who is out there that fits this offense, and Dalton is a guy who has done it before. Both players, who I think in September or October or even November would keep this offense afloat much better than Cade Klubnik as the Jets continue to develop him,” NFL Insider Connor Hughes of SNY talked about in a video on X, per Heavy.

Going after a guy like Tanner McKee or Andy Dalton would make a lot of sense for the Jets.

If I were the Jets, I'd go with McKee over Dalton, but there's also value in having an older guy like Dalton in the locker room to teach a guy like Klubnik. Putting him around Smith and Dalton could benefit his career.
