Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver DeVonta Smith is dealing with a hamstring injury before the team's game against the Chicago Bears.

As the Philadelphia Eagles prepare for their Week 3 game against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football, the team is dealing with some injuries.

Star wide receiver DeVonta Smith is currently dealing with a hamstring injury, which forced him to sit out of practice on Thursday. It remains to be seen how serious of an issue this will be for the Eagles, but it will be something to monitor as the game gets closer.

Thankfully for Philadelphia, star running back Saquon Barkley was limited in practice today. But the injury to Smith could cause some trouble for his overall status this week.

The Eagles need Smith in the worst way, and he has been awesome for them to start the new season. Replacing A.J. Brown as the top pass-catching option in this Eagles offensive attack, Smith hasn't skipped a beat so far.

Through the first two games of the season, Smith has caught 13 passes for 170 yards and one touchdown. Smith has been the go-to option for quarterback Jalen Hurts, and that was apparent over last weekend in the team's win over the Tennessee Titans.

The star wideout caught 10 passes for 117 yards and one touchdown. Smith was a big part of the Eagles' game-winning drive late in the fourth quarter, so if he is forced to miss any time, it would be a major blow to this team.

Hamstring injuries can be very tricky, so the Eagles will likely proceed with extreme caution in regards to his recovery. Smith is a crucial piece to this team, and the last thing that Philadelphia wants to do is have him suffer an even worse injury.

Smith also dealt with a hamstring issue during training camp, giving more concern to this issue for him.

If Smith can't give it a go against the Bears, the Eagles would then turn to Dontayvion Wicks and Makai Lemon to step up. Wicks has been good for Philadelphia to open the season, catching seven passes for 147 yards and one touchdown.

Hurts has trued his best to move the ball around to different wide receivers through the first two games. It seems that the Eagles want to make it a committee approach to pass-catching without Brown in the offense any longer.

But the hope is that Smith won't have to miss any time due to the hamstring injury. The Eagles will provide more insight into the issue over the next few days, and luckily for Philadelphia, the game isn't until Monday.
