I don't think the Philadelphia Eagles are overrated heading into next season, and honestly, it almost feels like this team is being overlooked a bit.
I believe that, at least on paper, the Eagles have a very good team, and as long as this offense and Jalen Hurts do what's needed, they should be one of the better teams in the NFL once again.
After last season, I heard a lot of the questions, and I can honestly say I agree with a few of them. But I like what the Eagles have, and I'm never going to doubt a team that wins 11-plus games in what feels like every season.
However, many others believe the Eagles look very different from how I do. In fact, a writer at The Athletic even went so far as to say this team is a bit overrated.
“The Eagles have ranked among the elite teams of the NFC for the last 10 years, making the playoffs nine times and winning the Super Bowl twice. Even with last season’s regression, they won the NFC East for the third time in four seasons.
“But now they’re trying to re-tool on the fly, subtracting the disgruntled A.J. Brown and drafting Makai Lemon, rolling with their fourth offensive coordinator in as many years (rookie play caller Sean Mannion), and adding veterans Jonathan Greenard and Riq Woolen on defense while losing standouts Nakobe Dean and Reed Blankenship. The health of the offensive line is a concern, as is a tough late-season stretch. Although viewed as a bar-setter, the Eagles could hit a few snags this season,” Mike Jones of The Athletic wrote.
I wouldn't say the Eagles are overrated at all, but I can understand the questions about losing guys like A.J. Brown and Nakobe Dean. Fortunately, I really like what the Eagles have built in the offseason and believe they replaced those guys in a positive way.
Of course, time will tell. However, I don't know why we wouldn't trust these players after what they've done over the past few seasons. It seems like even in a bad year, the Eagles are an 11-plus win squad.
