Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Josh Sweat finds himself in an interesting position in his career with the Arizona Cardinals, as the former star could probably be better used on a much better team than the Cardinals.
Instead of the Cardinals keeping him around as they go through a rebuild, there definitely seems to be a possibility of him getting dealt, as Jordan Schultz reported on Tuesday that the Cardinals have already gotten trade offers and calls about the defensive end.
"Sources: The #Cardinals have received trade calls on Pro Bowl DE Josh Sweat. Sweat had 12 sacks last season in his first year with Arizona and had a close relationship with Jonathan Gannon, whom the Cardinals moved on from," Schultz wrote.
The Eagles, who lost Jaelan Phillips in the offseason in a deal to the Carolina Panthers, could definitely be a suitor for the former defensive end. If the Eagles want to get back in the mix, many believe there's a possibility of them doing so, with Bleacher Report recently linking the two sides.
“The Eagles recorded a respectable 42 sacks in 2025, but they didn't have any one defender who could consistently win on the edge one-on-one. Jalyx Hunt led the team with just 6.5 sacks. Philly's lack of a consistent pass rush is why the team was willing to part with a third-round pick for a half-season of Phillips. It's why the Eagles should make a play to bring Sweat back into the fold now. Sweat, a 2018 fourth-round pick, spent his first seven seasons in Philadelphia before leaving for Arizona in free agency. He had eight regular-season sacks and another 2.5 sacks in the playoffs during Philadelphia's 2024 Super Bowl run,” Kristopher Knox of BR wrote.
I'm of the belief that if the Eagles can get better on either side of the football and it doesn't cost them a whole lot, that's exactly what needs to happen. It'll be interesting to see what Sweat goes for on the trade market, as there are still a good number of teams around the NFL searching for help on the defensive side of the football.
If the Eagles want him, it's evident they'll have to get in the mix, unless they've already done so and are one of the teams that have reached out.
