Heading into the 2026 NFL season, there is a lot of hope for this Philadelphia Eagles team. The defense is as good as ever, even with the losses of Jaelan Phillips, Reed Blankenship, and Nakobe Dean.
But the focus is on the offense, as moving on from Kevin Patullo was something many fans wanted after last season. They did, and brought in Sean Mannion to have a completely new coaching mindset leading this team. So far, it's been encouraging.
The issue for the Eagles, however, is that they're not alone in their offseason improvements in the NFC East. Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report is predicting that the Eagles will be facing a much tougher battle in the division this year, as all four NFC East teams will be competitive until the end of the season.
"Prediction: It's a legit four-way fight in December," Gagnon predicts. "The Eagles just became the first team to win back-to-back NFC East titles since 2004, but I have a feeling the division will be a four-team race in 2026."
This prediction from Gagnon that the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders, and New York Giants will all legitimately challenge the Eagles for the NFC East title would make for a nightmare season.
To make matters worse, Gagnon's prediction would mean the competition lasts until December, meaning that from Weeks 13 through 18, the NFC East is close.
What would make this such a nightmare prediction for the Eagles is their end-of-season schedule. December and January make for some pretty tough matchups.
They face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 13, which should be a win even though it's on the road. The Indianapolis Colts come to Philadelphia in Week 14, which might not be an easy game.
Then, the Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans come to Philadelphia in back-to-back weeks for a brutal two-game set near the end of the year.
To close out the year, in January, they face the San Francisco 49ers and, potentially, with Gagnon's prediction, a highly competitive Giants team to end the season in Week 18.
Gagnon's prediction coming true - that the Eagles are in a legitimately competitive NFC East in December - could make for a nightmare scenario to end the season.
