Eagles Have Obvious Position to Target in First Round of 2027 NFL Draft

This is too easy of a decision for Roseman.

As the Philadelphia Eagles prepare to make decisions over the next couple of weeks before the NFL trade deadline, there's plenty to consider regarding the 2027 NFL draft.

If Philadelphia believes it has a real opportunity to improve its roster with guys who can come in and make a major impact from day one, Howie Roseman may decide to keep some of his top players. If he wants to go in a different direction and build a younger team with guys who have more upside, he may want to trade some of his better players.

Regardless, we won't have a real feel until the Eagles decide what they have to do, which makes the next 15 or so days perhaps more interesting than we've seen in quite some time for this organization.

As for the 2027 NFL draft, there's absolutely no debate that Philadelphia has to improve on the offensive line. The line has been among the worst in the NFL this season, but a couple of factors are to blame: Lane Johnson retiring and the injuries they've dealt with.

Regardless, the unit has to improve, and Philadelphia was recently predicted to do just that by selecting offensive tackle Trevor Goosby from the University of Texas.

“With the loss to the Cowboys on Monday Night Football, the Eagles are now picking well inside the Top 10 and they could go a number of different ways. Depending on the long-term outlook for Jalen Hurts, quarterback could be in play at some point, but it starts with the offensive line in Philly, which means they replace Lane Johnson with Trevor Goosby.

“Unfortunately, the Texas product was injured this past weekend and will be out for the rest of the season. But what we've seen on tap is a guy who has the makings with his size, his quickness and his hands to be a franchise-caliber tackle,” Cody Williams wrote.

Goosby is a very good player in his own right, with many suggesting he could be a top-10 pick.

However, it was reported on Wednesday that the young man underwent successful surgery on his torn left patellar tendon and that he'll miss the remainder of the season.

ESPN also reported that Goosby could return to the University of Texas next season, despite being a big-time draft prospect. Philadelphia will have to figure some things out, but if he decides to enter the draft, Goosby should be a very intriguing candidate for the team to consider.
