Eagles' Howie Roseman Hints at More Deals Coming After Jalen Carter Decision

The unfortunate part of building a really good team like the Philadelphia Eagles have over the past few years is the simple fact that guys have to leave in free agency at some point.

This past year, the Eagles saw guys like Nakobe Dean, Reed Blankenship, and others walk in free agency. They also decided to move on from AJ Brown, a decision that wasn't easy.

Simply put, the Eagles have let some very talented players walk, and according to Howie Roseman, it was a calculated decision to keep some other players around who he wants in Philadelphia for the short and long term.

“We let players go that we care about, that we think are good players, that we think are really good people that fit,” Roseman said, per The Athletic. “But we had to move on because we have some game-changing players and people that are part of this organization and we don’t intend to lose. So, I would say to our fans, if you’re wearing a jersey with some of those guys, with those names on the back, we fully intend for those guys to be here.”

Next offseason will bring the organization a lot of challenges, and if Roseman sticks to what he's said in the past, he doesn't plan to talk about contract extensions during the season.

Perhaps his decisions will change on that front because of how important some of those players are to keep around, but history suggests he doesn't want to talk money during the season.

There are always exceptions to that rule, so I wouldn't be surprised if Philadelphia goes a different route than it typically does. Roseman and the players will ultimately decide all of that, however.

Players might not want to take deals in the season. Often, we see them hold out until they get exactly what they want, so if the Eagles aren't doing that, it could be something they don't want to pursue.
