Eagles' Jalen Hurts Seemingly Places Blame on New Offensive System

Winning in the NFL is always the top priority for a team like the Philadelphia Eagles, and whenever it doesn't happen at a high level, there are going to be questions about why things are going the way they are. As for how Philadelphia has played to start the season, I don't want to say that it has done enough on either side of the ball. 

While the offense was the focus entering the year, the defense hasn't been any better. The defense has, frankly looked pretty below average, and that's a discouraging sign. 

However, ultimately, we can trust this Eagles’ defense to eventually figure things out; at least that's what history tells us. 

As for the offense, there have been times over the past few years where things haven't gone as planned, so that's a much bigger question than anything else.

Philadelphia made more personnel changes during the offseason, and as a result, there are some things that have to be figured out. 

Whether that be Sean Mannion implementing a new offense, new faces in the unit that have to figure things out, or anything else, there are questions. Jalen Hurts recently spoke about that, adding that while they always want to win, a lot of this is a process.

“We want to win, and I think us onboarding new things and us learning new things, a lot of that is just part of the process of us becoming who we are,” Hurts said, per the Inquirer. 

“So I’ve talked about continuity and building that continuity, building that chemistry. Us coming together, staying together, and finding our flow, finding out what this team this year is going to be.

“I hate it more than anything in this world,” Hurts said. “At the same time, we need it, and it’s something that is natural and a part of the process of winning. To win, you have to lose. You have to build resilience and character within that, reflecting on it, choosing to learn from it.”

While Hurts isn't necessarily wrong, most fans aren't going to want to hear this. Philadelphia had an entire offseason to figure things out, and unfortunately, hasn't been able to do so early on.

There's only so much time that fans are going to want to wait, so this is something that is going to have to change sooner rather than later.
