The offense should figure things out sometime soon.
While the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense just wasn’t great once again on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, we have to give them credit for finding a way to win 24-20.
We still need to look at this in other ways. For one, this is a Philadelphia team that isn’t really going to be judged on wins and losses.
We all know wins are the biggest thing in football, but Philadelphia should win 10-plus games with relative ease. If this team doesn’t win 10-plus games, there are a lot more problems, and there are going to be a lot more changes than we expect.
I’d go as far as to say that the process, as I’ve spoken about a few times now, is much more important for Philadelphia than anything else. This isn’t an Eagles team that can just stay on the path it was on a season ago.
Philadelphia needs to be one of the better offenses in the NFL, which is why it went out and hired Sean Mannion.
Mannion has done a really good job of saying all the right things over the first couple of months of his time with the organization, dating back to training camp, but that doesn’t mean a whole lot if he isn’t doing what’s necessary when the guys are on the field. The Eagles didn’t do enough on Sunday, especially in the run game, and that’s something that was spoken about after the game.
However, one Eagles fan favorite didn’t think it was as big of an issue as it seemed to be.
"Keep the chains moving because even though we weren't hitting very explosive runs, I thought we were still pushing the chains forward. And those first three drives in the first half, we were gaining ground and wearing them out.
“And as the game went on in the first half, you can see that they made their adjustments moving the lines, fitting the nickels and the free safeties. I thought they did a good job of mixing that in,” Jordan Mailata said, per Cayden Steele.
I don’t necessarily disagree with what Mailata is trying to say, because he has some fair points.
However, he also has to recognize that the offense just wasn’t good. I think he’s trying to say that the team did what it had to do in terms of moving the chains and getting yards when needed, but there was so much left on the field on Sunday, and to me, that’s very disappointing.
