Amidst all the questions about the Philadelphia Eagles' offense throughout the season, that will be one of the focuses for how they look against the Chicago Bears on Friday afternoon. The Bears' defense has shown that it can compete with some of the top offenses in the NFL, and considering how poorly the Eagles' offense has played for much of the season, this is certainly something that has to be factored in.
On the flip side of that, considering the Bears are currently 8-3 and tied with the Philadelphia Eagles for the second-best record in the NFC, this is ultimately a game that Philadelphia will want to come away with.
When searching for what that could mean offensively, Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo had some intriguing thoughts about the offense and what the Bears defense does well.
"They do a really good job of coming after the ball," Patullo said, per the Eagles. "Their secondary does a nice job ball hawking and seeing space, keeping vision on the quarterback. They really fly to the ball. It's really impressive what they do at all levels. The front seven plays extremely hard, and I think the biggest difference is, it's on their mind when they're going to tackle you, when they're going to do something. They're constantly going after the ball. They're hustling all over the tape. You're not going to have a lot of plays where you see one guy rushing and one guy coming after it to make a tackle.
"It's all a group effort and when you get that – that is one of the things we focused on today in the meetings, taking care of the ball. It's going to be a huge part of the game and that's what we have to do."
Patullo is definitely in a spot where he's being questioned as the coordinator.
It might be a bit unfair in some sense, considering the players have to do their jobs too, but he needs to be a lot better as a play caller.
We’ll see a major difference in the play calling compared to the Bears, but hopefully that doesn't mean the team will be outmatched offensively.
