There are few players on the Philadelphia Eagles' roster over the last few years who have been more loved by the fans than tight end Dallas Goedert. However, he's set to become a free agent this offseason and fans are wondering whether or not he'll be back in 2026.
Goedert, who is now 31 years old, is still playing at a high level. He's more than capable of being a key piece of the Eagles' offense for at least a couple more seasons.
That being said, there are other teams around the NFL who will likely have interest in poaching him away from Philadelphia.
A new prediction has been shared about what Eagles fans should expect entering NFL free agency. It's a prediction that they will like.
NFL insider Mike Garafolo of NFL Network spoke out about the situation in an appearance on "The Anthony Gargano Show" on Friday.
"I think he's back," Garafolo said. "They'll be a market. They'll be a market. I think he could be back in Philly. No doubt. I mean, there's work to be done. I'm not saying it's imminent by any stretch. ... I'm not closing the door on him returning at all. It's not like they have this stable off of tight ends or whatever. So, I think they talked here."
Garafolo continued on, giving more reasoning for why he thinks that Goedert will re-sign with Philadelphia.
"They're going to continue to talk over the next week or so. There's going to be interest elsewhere in him on this tight end market. It's not the strongest of the free agent classes so there will be interest. I know he likes it [in Philadelphia] and I know that was a big factor beforehand as well."
During the 2025 NFL season with the Eagles, Goedert played in 15 games. He racked up 60 receptions for 591 yards and 11 touchdowns and was an excellent security blanket target for Jalen Hurts.
Keeping him in town would be the wise decision for Philadelphia.
On the flip side, it sounds like star wide receiver A.J. Brown will be playing for a different team in 2026. Barring a major change of pace, the Eagles are expected to trade away the disgruntled wide receiver.
Expect to continue hearing a lot of rumors about Philadelphia as the offseason heats up. Goedert's future will be watched closely, but the Eagles seem to have the inside track to re-sign him.
