Throughout the course of the 2025 NFL season, the Philadelphia Eagles had quite a few ups and downs.
After finishing up the season with an 11-6 record, the Eagles are now making their final preparations to take on the San Francisco 49ers in the Wild Card round of the NFC playoff picture. It's one of the more highly-anticipated matchups of Wild Card weekend.
Both Philadelphia and the 49ers are more than capable of contending for a Super Bowl run this season. For the Eagles, this is the beginning of an attempt to defend their championship from last year.
Leading up to the game, fans and analysts are relatively split on who will win this matchup. Philadelphia has home field advantage, but San Francisco has been playing at a high level this season despite a plethora of injuries.
With that being said, one Eagles legend has spoken out with strong words about the 49ers and an incredibly bold prediction for Philadelphia heading into the playoffs.
LeSean McCoy shared his opinion during an appearance on the "Speakeasy" podcast.
“We ain’t worried about the Niners! You see the way they looked last game? We're not worried about the Niners,” McCoy said.
“Niners or Green Bay, whoever it was, we're just gonna beat them anyway. Listen, man, the championship goes to Philadelphia. I know that, and so does Nick Sirianni. We ain't tripping. We don't care.”
While McCoy and the Eagles may not be worried about San Francisco, they certainly can't afford to overlook the 49ers. Brock Purdy and company have had games late in the year that made it obvious they have enough talent to make a run in the postseason.
As for Philadelphia, there have been too many moments this season where the team seemed off. More reports about unrest in the locker room have surfaced. That could be something to monitor entering the playoffs.
Heading into this weekend's game, both teams are looking to make a statement. They're both looking to prove to the rest of the playoff field that they should be taken seriously.
The Eagles are scheduled to kick off against San Francisco at 4:30 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon on Fox. Hopefully, the team shows up focused and ready to take care of business.
