Heading into the 2026 NFL offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles have a tough decision to make regarding the future of star wide receiver AJ Brown.
Throughout his tenure with the Eagles, Brown has brought a lot of drama. His relationship with quarterback Jalen Hurts hasn't seem to be great and his actions both on and off the field have been a distraction from the team's ultimate goal of competing for championships.
With that being said, there are a lot of trade rumors swirling around Brown's name as the offseason gets undreway.
Keeping that in mind, a new idea has been suggested for Philadelphia.
ESPN's Bill Barnwell has suggested a potential blockbuster trade between the Eagles and Denver Broncos that would ship Brown out of town. In his suggested trade, Philadelphia would receive cornerback Riley Moss, a 2026 second-round pick, and a 2027 fifth-round pick in exchange for Brown and a 2026 fifth-round pick.
"Brown's situation with the Eagles is tenuous," Barnwell wrote. "[He] would be the wideout of Bo Nix's and Sean Payton's dreams. Nix's accuracy issues downfield would be mitigated by Brown's size, catch radius and ability to win on contested-catch opportunities."
Brown heading off to the Broncos would make a ton of sense for both teams. For the Eagles, they would be getting a talented defensive back and draft capital. As for the Broncos, they would be getting a true No. 1 wideout.
During the 2025 NFL season with Philadelphia, Brown played in 15 regular season games. He caught 78 passes for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns.
His production was down from previous years. The Eagles would be missing his playmaking ability, but trading him away would not hurt their ability to contend in the NFC.
Should Philadelphia choose to trade Brown, Howie Roseman would almost certainly look to replace him with another wideout. Perhaps a name like Mike Evans could make some level of sense.
Only time will tell what the Eagles choose to do with Brown this offseason. However, the rumors are just getting started and it would not be surprising to see the team cut ties with him via a trade. Denver is worth watching as a potential suitor.
