The Philadelphia Eagles have been connected to a huge trade before the NFL Draft.
The Philadelphia Eagles certainly have some needs to address after a brutal second half of 2025, and on the surface, tackle does not appear to be one of them.
The Eagles are stacked with Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata at the position, so you would think they would be aiming to fix more glaring holes in the NFL Draft.
However, with Johnson's future up in the air after contemplating retirement, Philadelphia may want to start seeking a replacement now, and Todd McShay of The Ringer thinks the Eagles will get their man on Thursday night.
McShay is projecting Philadelphia to swing a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to acquire the 15th overall pick in the draft and has Philly sending pick Nos. 23, 68 and 114 to the Buccaneers in exchange (a really nice haul for Tampa Bay).
He then has the Eagles selecting Georgia tackle Monroe Freeling at No. 15.
"I’m limiting trades in this final mock, but there’s no chance Howie Roseman sits still and watches teams like Detroit and Pittsburgh take the OT he wants ahead of the Eagles," McShay wrote.

Since then, some have even tabbed Freeling as a potential top-10 pick, linking him to the Cleveland Browns at No. 6. But now, it's looking like the Browns might go in a different direction.
If Freeling does fall into the mid-teens, Philadelphia may very well attempt to move up to snatch him.
You do have to question if it would really be the right move for an Eagles squad that is two seasons removed from winning a Super Bowl and could land a player who would contribute immediately, but they seem to feel very strongly about finding Johnson's replacement.
Considering this draft class is pretty deep at the tackle position, it does make some sense for Philadelphia to strike now.
Johnson is a six-time Pro Bowler, but played in just 10 games this past season due to a Lisfranc injury that ended his campaign.
The former first-round pick is now 36 years old, so there are serious concerns about whether or not he will be able to recover for 2026.
Taking all of that into consideration, swiping Freeling may just be the best move for the Eagles.
