The Philadelphia Eagles must add this player to bolster their defense.

The Philadelphia Eagles are definitely in need of pass-rushing help this offseason, especially with Jaelan Phillips headed toward free agency.

Even if the Eagles manage to re-sign Phillips, they could still use some reinforcements along their front seven, and a perfect option is about to become available for them: Bradley Chubb.

The Miami Dolphins are expected to release Chubb, which creates a brilliant opportunity for Philadelphia to pounce on a premier pass rusher without having to surrender any draft capital in return.

Chubb registered 47 tackles, 8.5 sacks and 20 quarterback hits while playing in every game with the Dolphins this past season, and while his 60.3 pass-rushing grade at Pro Football Focus wasn't impressive, the numbers speak for themselves.

Yes, Chubb is a concern because of his injury history.

Ever since being selected by the Denver Broncos with the fifth overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, Chubb has missed extensive time, including all of 2024 with a torn ACL.

When healthy, however, the 29-year-old has been a force, like in 2023 when he racked up 73 tackles, 11 sacks and six forced fumbles during his first full season in Miami (the Broncos traded Chubb to the Dolphins midway through 2022).

And again, the catch is that the Eagles would not have to trade anything for Chubb. They could just simply sign him to an incentive-laden contract and hope that he stays healthy and produces in 2026.

That doesn't mean Philadelphia should avoid taking another edge rusher at some point in the NFL Draft, particularly if Phillips walks. But it would certainly be nice to add Chubb for that proven depth.

The Eagles could make Chubb a part of their pass-rushing rotation. He wouldn't even have to be an every-snap player. He played 72 percent of Miami's defensive snaps in 2025, but Philly could probably drop that number to around 55-60 percent.

Of course, that also depends on who else the Eagles have in the trenches, but rotating Chubb would probably be the best method to employ in order to keep him healthy and fresh.

Chubb may not be the same big name he was a couple of years ago due to the fact that he recently missed an entire campaign, but he proved this past season that he can still be productive.

You also have to imagine that Chubb wants to play for a contender at this point, so Philadelphia could comprise the perfect landing spot for the North Carolina State alum.
