The Philadelphia Eagles have been named a landing spot for a former rival.
NFL analyst Julia Stumbaugh of Bleacher Report believes former New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. can help the struggling Eagles' offense.
"The Eagles offense may have leaned in large part on Saquon Barkley's record-breaking 2024 season to win Super Bowl LIX, but the reigning champions might still look for more receiving depth after dealing with injuries to both A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith last season," Stumbaugh wrote. "Beckham would have to compete for targets with Jahan Dotson should the Eagles acquire him to fill out the receiving room behind those two stars."
The Eagles are in first place in the NFC with a strong record of 8-2. However, their offense has been subpar this season.
Philadelphia ranks 25th in total yards (300.1 per game), 28th in passing yards (184.9) and 29th in third-down conversion rate (33.87%).
Beckham Jr. is free to sign with a team now after serving his suspension for violating the league's performance-enhancing drugs policy. The LSU product is 33 years old.
Beckham Jr. played in nine games with the Miami Dolphins in 2024. He caught nine passes for 55 yards and didn't score a touchdown.
OBJ began his NFL career with the Giants in 2014. He made three consecutive Pro Bowls from 2014 to 2016 and won the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.
However, Beckham Jr. became too large a distraction to the Giants franchise due to his antics and was traded to the Cleveland Browns in 2019. OBJ finished his New York career with 5,476 receiving yards, 390 catches and 44 receiving touchdowns.
Beckham Jr. appeared in 29 games with the Browns before getting waived in November 2021. The three-time Pro Bowler signed with the Los Angeles Rams and helped the team win Super Bowl LVI against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Unfortunately for Beckham Jr., he tore his ACL (for the second time) in Super Bowl LVI and missed the entire 2022 season. The veteran signed with the Baltimore Ravens in 2023 to play with QB Lamar Jackson. OBJ had 35 receptions for 565 yards and three touchdowns with the Ravens.
A New Orleans native, Beckham Jr. has 575 catches, 7,987 receiving yards and 59 receiving touchdowns in the NFL. He was on a Hall of Fame path with the Giants before injuries and trades derailed his career.
It will be fascinating to see if the Eagles sign Beckham Jr.
