Sirianni needs to start winning again at the level we expect.

It's been a very ugly start to the season for the Philadelphia Eagles, and that has to change soon.

For this Eagles team to become what they're trying to be, a lot of it will start at the top.

Guys like Jalen Hurts, head coach Nick Sirianni, star wide receiver DeVonta Smith, and other top defensive players will have to figure some things out.

As for what this means for Sirianni and his future in Philadelphia, some believed last year that if he didn't have the season the team wanted, it could have led to him being fired.

It almost feels unfair to say a lot of this is Sirianni's fault, because there are more issues than just the head coach, but when a team like Philadelphia doesn't win games at a high level, there will always be questions about how that can change.

That's why one writer recently suggesting Sirianni could already be on the hot seat doesn't come as much of a surprise.

“A 2-2 start to the season and the offensive woes that caused it increased the scrutiny on Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni. Less than two years removed from a Super Bowl victory, Sirianni entered the 2026 campaign with little concern about his job security, but his seat warmed over the first four weeks and could reach scalding temperatures if he cannot reverse the Eagles' fortunes.

“The chances of Sirianni righting the ship took a significant blow on Tuesday when star offensive tackle Lane Johnson announced his sudden retirement from the NFL. Over the course of Johnson's career, Philadelphia ranked in the top three in offensive efficiency with him on the field and in the bottom six without him.

"His now permanent absence does not bode well for a unit that has looked bleak thus far in 2026,” Carter Bahns wrote.

The Lane Johnson retirement news certainly doesn't help anybody, though the Eagles also moved on from Cam Jurgens on Wednesday. They got a second-round pick and more back from the Baltimore Ravens, so that felt like a decent trade.

Regarding the offensive line, that's Philadelphia's biggest concern moving forward. It hasn't been able to get anything going on the ground, and offensive line injuries and other problems have been a big reason why.
