Eagles' Offense Should Be Among League's Best if Comments Come True

If the Philadelphia Eagles are going to be the team they're looking to be next season, it's going to be because of what they do on the offensive side of the football.

I already know what I'm going to get out of this Eagles defense, and that's guys who are going to get to the quarterback, break up plays in the secondary, and do much more. Vic Fangio has done a great job with this defense, and I don't expect that to change anytime soon.

Offensively speaking, there are definitely a lot of questions about how things will look next year. With Sean Mannion taking over for Kevin Patullo, it seems likely that things will change for the better, at least if the comments some players have made prove true.

Speaking recently about what Mannion is going to do at this level, everything that's been said about him so far is perfect, with recent quotes from ESPN suggesting that things are going to go as well as possible.

"Sean is an evil genius. That is my first impression," left tackle Jordan Mailata said. "The guy knows ball. If I were to lock the three smartest people in the facility in one room, Sean would be there. And I think Sean would just be by himself. It would just be Sean. He's a wizard. And man, I'm super excited. As the year goes on, we get to display what is in that beautiful mind of his."

Miami Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley also had a lot to say about the Eagles' decision to bring in the new offensive coordinator.

"One of the hardest workers that I've seen at a younger age, always in the building, always working at it, always one-on-one with the quarterbacks, doing extra things," said Hafley. "And he played the position. You can say he's only coached two years but his time as a quarterback in the NFL, all he's doing is learning football and he's doing it right. What he'll bring to that quarterback room and what he'll bring to that offense, I think he's going to be awesome."

The comments are great, and so is the feeling that players feel confident with Mannion.

However, ultimately, that doesn't mean the Eagles are going to be as good offensively as they need to be. We need to see them on the field doing what everybody expects, and until that happens, I understand why there are some questions.
