The Philadelphia Eagles are predicted to have the best defense in the league this season.
The 2026 season will be all about redemption for the Philadelphia Eagles.
After falling short in the quest to repeat as Super Bowl champions last year, Philadelphia will be trying to get back to the mountaintop. The Eagles come into the season with a very strong roster, still led by quarterback Jalen Hurts.
But the offense will look a little different after the trade of star wide receiver A.J. Brown. Philadelphia doesn't seem overly concerned about this, instead believing that they can overcome the loss.
Additionally, the defense for the Eagles is still very strong, giving them a chance in every game. Some around the league believe that the Eagles defense can exceed expectations this year, potentially being a top unit.
ESPN NFL analyst Dan Graziano has predicted that Philadelphia will have the best defense in the league this season.
"Don't be surprised if ... they have the best defense in the NFL this season...regardless, the Vic Fangio defense should be an absolute monster….And the continuity under Fangio is a big reason to believe this unit will only be better. The Eagles look like the kind of defense that can carry a transitioning offense through early-season growing pains," Graziano wrote.
While the offense may have concerns that they will need to figure out, the Eagles defense is stacked all around. Philadelphia has prided itself on having a strong unit even before winning the Super Bowl in 2024, believing it was a needed component to finding success.
Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter still man the middle of the defensive line, making life very tough on opposing teams. But the additions on the outside should help too, with Philadelphia bringing in multiple players to bolster the unit.
Jonathan Greenard brings more physicality to the table, adding another guy who can get to the quarterback. The same goes with Jihaad Campbell, who should be even better in his second year at linebacker.
The secondary got deeper too with the signing of Riq Woolon, who has proved himself in the league. Philadelphia made it a point to add battle-tested guys, giving themselves more credibility on the field.
Overall, this defense is very deep and should be able to create havoc against any team's offense this season. Much like last year, the Eagles defense will be the calling card, with the offense needing to step up.
And if this were to happen, the sky is really the limit for the Eagles heading into the 2026 season.
