The Philadelphia Eagles are being predicted to make a splashy move for a breakout defensive player in NFL free agency.

The Philadelphia Eagles have some very clear needs to address this offseason, and one of them is at the cornerback position.

Yes, the Eagles have Quinyon Mitchell on one side, and Cooper DeJean is a terrific nickelback, but the other cornerback slot could use an upgrade.

Well, ESPN's Dan Graziano envisions Philadelphia pursuing some secondary help in free agency and is predicting the Eagles to land former Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Montaric Brown on a three-year, $30 million contract.

"A surprisingly buzzy name at last week's combine, the 26-year-old Brown should draw interest from multiple teams," Graziano wrote. "He pulled in two interceptions last season in Jacksonville. And he should land a strong deal from a team looking for CB help but unwilling or unable to spend in the Riq Woolen/Jaylen Watson/Jamel Dean end of the market."

In addition to his two picks in 2025, Brown registered 51 tackles and 12 passes defended while posting a 75.5 coverage grade at Pro Football Focus, which ranked 14th among 114 qualifying corners.

Brown was originally selected by the Jaguars in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, so he initially wasn't expected to become much of anything on the professional level.

By his second year, however, Brown had already carved out a role in Jacksonville's secondary, logging 34 tackles and four passes defended in 12 games.

Then, in 2024, the University of Arkansas product played in every game and finished with 75 tackles, six tackles for loss and eight passes defended before truly establishing himself as a force this past season.

Philadelphia employed both Adoree' Jackson and Kelee Ringo in the No. 2 cornerback role in 2025, and neither worked all that well. That led to the Eagles giving up some big plays through the air.

Philly could potentially look to address the position in the draft, especially considering that the Eagles don't have a whole lot of financial wiggle room. However, Brown would represent quite the get on the open market.

We'll see if general manager Howie Roseman is willing to spend any money to patch up that hole next week.
