The Philadelphia Eagles are widely expected to trade A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots in June and the Birds could acquire Kayshon Boutte in the deal.
Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report has the Eagles acquiring Boutte in the Brown trade since the Patriots are open to trading Boutte.
"No, A.J. Brown isn't listed here—Brown being traded became that much more likely after the Eagles traded up to draft Makai Lemon, and it has been rumored more than once it will be to New England for a package that includes Kayshon Boutte," Davenport wrote.
Boutte is entering the final year of his contract. He appeared in 14 games for the Patriots last season and had 33 receptions for 551 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns.
New England drafted Boutte with the 187th overall pick in the 2023 draft out of LSU. Boutte enters next season with 78 career receptions for 1,159 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns.
Brown and the Eagles agreed to a three-year, $96 million extension in April 2024. The Super Bowl champion has no guaranteed money on his current deal after 2026.
One of the top receivers in the NFL, Brown had 78 catches for 1,003 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns last season. He and QB Jalen Hurts weren't on the same page and multiple reports have said the two stars are no longer close.
A three-time Pro Bowler, Brown has been with the Eagles since 2022. He has 339 receptions for 5,034 receiving yards and 32 receiving touchdowns in a Philadelphia uniform, helping the franchise beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
Brown has 8,029 receiving yards and 56 receiving touchdowns in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans and Eagles. He's been heavily linked to the Patriots because Mike Vrabel coached him in Tennessee.
A Brown trade before June 1 would come with a 2026 cap hit of over $40 million, compared to less than $20 million if he's dealt after that date. Once June hits, all signs point toward the Eagles sending Brown to the Patriots.
