The Philadelphia Eagles are 4-0, but all does not appear well in the City of Brotherly Love. At least when it comes to wide receiver A.J. Brown.
Brown dropped a pretty telling social media post following the Eagles' win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday, making it clear that he was not happy about his lack of involvement in Philadelphia's offense.
The three-time Pro Bowler logged just two catches for seven yards in Week 4, and on the season overall, he has managed just 14 grabs for 151 yards and a touchdown.
Brown spoke to reporters earlier this week and said that he was happy in Philly and that he was just expressing frustration, but that has not stopped trade speculation from surfacing.
Dianna Russini of The Athletic has provided an update on the situation, noting that teams are "watching" Brown and that several clubs inquired about Brown during the offseason. The Eagles' response to the latter? An emphatic "no chance."
However, one NFL general manager feels that might change.
“They are paying roughly $50 million to two wide receivers (Brown and [DeVonta] Smith), and they aren’t even that involved,” the general manager told Russini. “They may move on simply because Philly is a run-heavy team.”
Philadelphia initially acquired Brown in a trade with the Tennessee Titans back in March 2022. He registered back-to-back `1,400-yard campaigns in his first two seasons with the Eagles and then recorded 1,079 yards in 13 games last year, averaging 16.1 yards per catch.
Brown has been absolutely instrumental in Philly's success since arriving, but his volatile behavior and his seemingly rocky relationship with quarterback Jalen Hurts has been an underlying issue.
The Eagles did not complete a single pass during the second half against the Buccaneers and rank 30th in the league in passing offense through the first four weeks of 2025. That hasn't stopped them from being undefeated and ripping off three straight wins against playoff teams, but you do have to wonder how long this will be sustainable for the Birds.
Philadelphia will face the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
