Something has to change.

As disappointing as the season has been for the Philadelphia Eagles to start, I think there are a few different ways to look at it.

The Eagles are still 2-2, which is never great for a team of this caliber, but it isn't like we're looking at a 0-4 team.

Even on Sunday, when the Los Angeles Rams came into town to take on the Eagles, Philadelphia lost 24-20, but it wasn't exactly the worst showing of all time.

Philadelphia was terrible in the second half, failing to score a point and blowing a ten-point lead, but a 24-20 loss against one of the better teams in the NFL, despite all of the injuries the Eagles are currently dealing with, isn't the end of the world.

If anything, it's a process that continues to be the issue.

The Eagles' inability to run the football has been absolutely disgusting, and Jalen Hurts playing as poorly as he did on offense in the past game was just as ugly. Hurts finished with just 93 passing yards, completing 12 of 27 attempts. On the ground, the Eagles were just as bad, finishing with 104 total rushing yards.

“I didn’t put the Eagles in the contender category before the season because there were too many question marks around their offense, and it’s been worse than I thought it would be. I thought they could be a playoff team if their defense was dominant.

“They’ve been fine, but they aren’t the top-three unit I thought they would be, and they could be dealing with some important injuries after Sunday. They can’t run the ball with efficiency. With Saquon Barkley, they could at least hit explosives here or there, but he left the game early with a hamstring injury.

“Quarterback Jalen Hurts was without wide receiver DeVonta Smith and tight end Dallas Goedert on Sunday, but he doesn’t look comfortable in this offense. Maybe that can improve later in the season as they get healthier, but he’s not going to become a quarterback he just never was. And that’s not to say Hurts has never been good. He’s a Super Bowl-winning quarterback, but as his rushing ability becomes less of a threat, he has to evolve, and we haven’t seen enough growth yet. There are a lot of issues with this Eagles team, and injuries could derail things,” Ted Nguyen wrote.

With no Saquon Barkley for much of the game, only attempting two rushes before going down with another injury, it's tough to get too upset with how Philadelphia looked in the run game.

However, even when Barkley has been healthy, Philadelphia's run game hasn't been much of anything.

That will certainly have to change if the Eagles want to be the team they're aiming to be for the rest of the year.
