Saquon Barkley had an incredible first season with the Philadelphia Eagles after spending six years with the New York Giants.
Barkley was the missing piece for the Eagles as they went on to win the Super Bowl over the Kansas City Chiefs. In the 2024 season, Barkley took home the Offensive Player of the Year award and finished third in MVP. He rushed for 2,005 yards and 13 touchdowns while hauling in 33 receptions for 278 yards and two touchdowns.
Barkley was very impactful in the postseason, rushing for 499 yards and five touchdowns. He also added 13 receptions for 75 yards.
Following his great season, Barkley was ranked the best player in the NFL on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2025.
This shows that Barkley has the respect of his peers for his ability to take over games.
"It feels amazing to see that video and be selected No. 1 from my peers just makes it so much better," Barkley said. "And to be honest, watching this show for a very long time, you always want to be No. 1 or really high. You get love and appreciation from fans and the outside world, but when it's from your peers, it means so much more."
Barkley has always been a talented player, but signing with the Eagles unlocked his full potential. Philadelphia's offensive line is one of the best in football, which was a stark contrast from his time with the Giants.
The 28-year-old inked a two-year $41.2 million deal with the Eagles this offseason, tying him to the franchise through the 2028 season.
Philadelphia will continue to lean on him as the tone setter on offense. The Eagles boast a loaded offense, featuring quarterback Jalen Hurts, an elite offensive line, and a wealth of weapons—the passing offense includes A.J. Brown, Devonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert.
Despite all of these weapons, the offense runs through Barkley. His rushing ability is what the Eagles lean on and unlocks Brown, Smith, and Goedert in the passing game.
Barkley's rise from the 86th-ranked player in 2024 to 1st in 2025 is a testament to his work ethic and how the Eagles' offensive line has elevated his game. Barkley will look to replicate his unreal season as the Eagles start their quest to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
