Philadelphia Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley exited with a hamstring injury in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Philadelphia Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley went down with a hamstring injury in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Barkley suffered the injury in the first quarter, and he has been ruled out. He had eight yards on two carries before exiting.

This is a disappointing loss for Philadelphia's offense, as they are already without star wide receiver DeVonta Smith and right tackle Lane Johnson.

With Barkley out, Jalen Hurts faces heavy pressure to lead the Eagles offense without three of their best players. Through the first three games of the season, Hurts has been inconsistent, completing 64.4 percent of his passes for 620 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions.

He will have to be efficient as a passer and limit turnovers while also contributing in the run game with Barkley out. Philadelphia will also lean on Tank Bigsby as their primary running back.

Bigsby has 14 carries for 36 yards and a touchdown through the first three games of the 2026 season. It's been an inefficient year, but it's not all on Bigsby, as the offensive line has struggled to consistently create holes to run through.

The 25-year-old running back was impactful in 15 games in 2025, rushing for 344 yards and two touchdowns on 58 carries.

In the passing attack, the Eagles will turn to Dontayvion Wicks, Makai Lemon, Darius Cooper, and Zach Ertz to step up.

Cooper has been impactful in the first half, catching two passes for 28 yards and two touchdowns. Hurts has been effective, completing 10 of 18 passes for 83 yards and two touchdowns.

With a strong first-half performance, they take a 20-10 lead into the locker room. However, that lead isn't safe against an explosive Los Angeles offense led by MVP Matthew Stafford and star receivers Puka Nacua and Davante Adams.

They will need an all-around team effort to beat a Super Bowl contender while missing three of their best offensive players.

Philadelphia has struggled to establish the run game all season, and with Barkley out, it will be difficult for the Eagles to lean on the run, putting more pressure on Hurts to connect downfield with his receivers.

Philadelphia suffered a disappointing loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 3, but if they can secure a win over Los Angeles despite missing some key players, it would be a huge boost and give them momentum as they look to win a second straight NFC East title.
