Can they do this?
It's tough to say whether the Philadelphia Eagles' season is done, as injuries have sent it off the rails.
Unfortunately for Philadelphia, much of that won't change anytime soon, as quarterback Jalen Hurts is out for the season, among other problems.
One thing the Eagles have to consider, however, is whether they still believe they have a chance to win the NFC East.
Given how poorly the division has played over the first six weeks, it's not crazy to suggest Philadelphia still has a chance. The Eagles, at 2-4, are still in second place behind the first-place New York Giants, 3-2-1.
The Giants aren't running away with the division, which could be why the organization decides not to sell at this year's deadline.
Much of Philadelphia's focus continues to be on its lack of offensive success. That was again the case against the Carolina Panthers in Week 6, as the offense put up just 14 points.
Tanner McKee wasn't exactly great, going 26 of 45 for just one touchdown. He threw for 215 yards and showed some decent signs throughout the game, but ultimately he wasn't everything everyone would hope for, and he certainly wasn't the player guys like Hurts have been throughout their careers.
It seems like things are done in Philadelphia, at least for this season, but Bleacher Report argues that the team still has a chance.
“If the Eagles can stabilize their offense under promising backup Tanner McKee, there is a chance they can string together some wins and jump out as the top team in a weak division. Philly fans know better than most that backups have sparked Super Bowl runs before, including in 2017 when Nick Foles led the Eagles to their first ever Lombardi Trophy after taking over for an injured Carson Wentz.
“The odds of that type of run occurring again may look bleak, but the Eagles shouldn't be counted out yet. They'll get a chance to turn things around and build some momentum when they host the Cowboys in a pivotal Week 7 showdown,” Alex Kay of Bleacher Report wrote.
It's certainly not unfair to say that Philadelphia could be a team that surprises some people over the next couple of weeks.
However, it's also important to recognize that the schedule isn't exactly getting easier.
While the NFC East has struggled, Philadelphia will take on the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders, and Giants in back-to-back-to-back weeks. Those are still three division games, and historically, division games aren't exactly easy to win in this league.
Philadelphia has found a lot of success in the division, but this season is different from years past.
