The Philadelphia Eagles will enter the NFL Draft with a lot of questions to answer, and one of them could be whether to add a wide receiver.
A lot of how the Eagles will look needs to be determined after June 1, as that's when it makes the most sense to move on from A.J. Brown in any potential trade. However, given the draft is before then, it's possible we could see this organization make some moves that serve as telling signs for the near future.
According to Tim McManus of ESPN, Philadelphia still believes in DeVonta Smith as a true WR1, especially with the potential for more targets if Brown isn't on the roster.
However, it's still fair to mention that if the Eagles decided to move on from Brown, they wouldn't be as good of a team if we're going based on talent.
That isn't to say the Eagles can't win a Super Bowl and be better without Brown and some of his attitude concerns, but strictly based on talent, this guy is as good as it gets.
“The Eagles view DeVonta Smith as a WR1 capable of thriving with a larger workload and added a couple of complementary veterans in Marquise Brown and Elijah Moore. That said, the receiving corps would take an obvious hit if Brown is traded. But as much as skill position players have helped, the Eagles' long run of success has been largely predicated on the strength of their offensive and defensive lines.
"The expectation here is for them to continue investing in the trenches in this draft, particularly after an injury-plagued season that ended with both right tackle Lane Johnson and guard Landon Dickerson pondering retirement. The organization has been disciplined in taking the best available player, but if it's close, the tiebreaker will likely go to the big men,” he wrote.
Lane Johnson and Landon Dickerson potentially being replaced in the future would be a very smart decision for the Eagles. However, it was also added by ESPN that it's possible Philadelphia goes with a wide receiver late in the first round. Jordyn Tyson was one of the players mentioned.
“What we're hearing about the Eagles' draft: Circle the Eagles as a team that could get aggressive in trading up for a receiver. Jordyn Tyson (Arizona State) is a player to watch, as he could still be on the board in the Nos. 17-20 range. GM Howie Roseman is notorious for drafting replacements for veterans a year in advance.”
There's a lot to consider here for Philadelphia, so a decision will have to be made, and it'll have to be the right one.
