Eagles' Top Trade Destination for AJ Brown Couldn't be More Obvious cover image

The Philadelphia Eagles will almost certainly be trading wide receiver A.J. Brown, and the top destination is blatantly obvious.

The Philadelphia Eagles fell to the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 23-19 in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs on Sunday night, and while there was plenty of blame to go around, one can't help but point to A.J. Brown's four drops.

Brown's miscues would be somewhat forgivable had he not complained about his role all season while also displaying very questionable effort. But with the three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver choking on a grand scale against the 49ers, a trade now seems imminent.

And what team seems most likely to pursue Brown this offseason? The Buffalo Bills.

The Bills are absolutely starving for a No. 1 receiver. They traded away Stefon Diggs in April 2024 and have been languishing at the position ever since. Khalil Shakir is really just a slot receiver, and Keon Coleman has not come close to working out over his first two seasons.

Josh Allen needs more help, even though the star quarterback did just lead Buffalo to a playoff win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

If there is any team out there that would be willing to take the risk on Brown, it's the Bills, who have been unable to get over the hump in the postseason since what feels like the beginning of time.

Of course, that could all change with a Super Bowl run this winter, but if the Bills get sent home early yet again, changes will need to be made, and it's hard to see Buffalo not pursuing a Brown trade.

Brown signed a three-year, $96 million extension with the Eagles two years ago, and the deal actually doesn't even kick in until next season. So if the Bills did land the 28-year-old, they would have him under contract through 2029.

And at this point, Philadelphia would probably be willing to accept a pedestrian return just to get Brown off of its hands. Its difficult to envision the Eagles getting a first-round draft pick in exchange for Brown at this point. Possibly not even a second-rounder.

So really, where is the risk for Buffalo?

Yes, it's possible Brown could damage the locker room, but the Bills need to finally break through and win a championship, so they can afford to take the gamble.

There are certainly some other landing spots that make sense for Brown, but Buffalo seems like the most logical destination.

One thing is almost certain, though: Brown has likely played his last game in Philadelphia.
