Eagles Trade Idea Moves Youngster to Bills for Decent Draft Pick
Oct 31, 2026 11:00 AM

This could be a wise decision for both parties.

If I'm the Philadelphia Eagles and Howie Roseman, the questions I have to ask over the next couple of days center on what the future of this organization is expected to look like.

I'm still of the belief that if the Eagles are going to find themselves in a position to move on from guys, they have to at least be willing to accept that next season might also be a bit of a problem.

Not to say that things are going to be perfect next year for Philadelphia even if they bring back some of these guys, but I would hate to trade players who have an opportunity to help this team in the immediate future.

At the same time, multiple players are on expiring contracts, which lets Philadelphia capitalize on guys who can help other teams when it knows they won't be on the roster next season. One of those guys is Moro Ojomo, a defensive tackle who is just 25 years old.

In a recent trade proposal, he would be sent to the Buffalo Bills for a third-round pick. The reason why this could make a ton of sense is that he's on an expiring contract, and there's a scenario in which Philadelphia is going to lose him for nothing in a couple of months.

“After missing out on Buckner, the Bills could make a splash for a young defensive tackle with loads of potential. Last season, when Ojomo started nine games, he finished with six sacks. He’s just 25, and he could be even more effective in a system like Jim Leonhard’s that gives him freedom to get upfield more often.

“The Eagles already gave Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter big extensions, so they likely would let Ojomo walk after the season. With their season falling apart, the wise move would be to trade Ojomo, who could be a game-changer for the Bills as a run stuffer and interior pass rusher. He also fits into Buffalo’s 3-4 scheme. Pairing Ojomo with budding star Deone Walker would be a move for this season and the future,” The Athletic wrote.

I like Ojomo as a player and believe that he has a real opportunity to continue impressing for what the Eagles are trying to do.

He played a bit better last season in a different type of role, getting to the quarterback more with six sacks. He has zero this season, but many factors are at play.

While I could also see him returning and Roseman figuring out a contract that makes sense for both sides, if a team like the Bills, which have a chance to win a Super Bowl, is interested in moving a third-round pick for an expiring contract, it almost feels like it makes too much sense not to do it.

If he had another year or two on his contract, I could see where some questions would arise, but because that isn't the case, it's something I'd at least consider if I were Roseman.
