Eagles' Trade Proposal Lands 18 TD WR Amid AJ Brown Drama cover image

Could the Philadelphia Eagles swing this wide receiver trade with A.J. Brown's future with the team hanging in the balance?

It seems almost certain that A.J. Brown has played his final snap as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, so the Eagles will need to explore some other wide receiver options this offseason.

While Philadelphia could select a receiver in the NFL Draft, it also might be worth exploring the trade market, and Bleacher Report's Alex Ballentine has pitched a very intriguing target for the club: Los Angeles Chargers wide out Quentin Johnston.

"The Eagles would probably want to avoid targeting an expensive player, but Quentin Johnston could be fairly cheap entering the final year of his rookie contract," Ballentine wrote.

Johnston hauled in 51 receptions for 735 yards and eight touchdowns with the Chargers in 2025, averaging a healthy 14.4 yards per catch.

The 24-year-old was originally selected by Los Angeles with the 21st overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft, and while he has not lived up to expectations, he has still been moderately productive.

Johnston has posted back-to-back 700-yard campaigns and has amassed a total of 18 touchdown catches over his first three seasons.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound receiver would represent a solid big-bodied replacement for Brown, who dropped four passes in the Eagles' Wild Card Round playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers and spent much of 2025 complaining.

Of course, Philadelphia isn't just going to give Brown away for nothing, so if teams aren't willing to surrender much for the three-time Pro Bowler, then perhaps there is a chance that Philly could keep him.

The question is whether or not the Eagles would want Brown potentially becoming a poisonous personality within the locker room, especially given that his relationship with quarterback Jalen Hurts is in serious doubt.

Philadelphia signed Brown to a three-year, $96 million contract extension in April 2024, a deal that takes him through 2029.

At this point, the idea of Brown remaining in Philly through 2029 seems dubious, at best.

If the Eagles do decide to part ways with the 28-year-old this offseason, Johnston would certainly comprise an interesting option for the squad.

The Chargers, by the way, have until May 1 to decide on whether or not to exercise the fifth-year option on Johnston's contract for 2027.
