The Philadelphia Eagles have been urged to consider taking a gamble on a free agent defensive back.

The 2026 NFL offseason has arrived and the Philadelphia Eagles are gearing up for the start of free agency on March 9.

After winning the NFC East, making the playoffs, and being quickly eliminated in the Wild Card by the San Francisco 49ers, it's clear that the Eagles need some work. Howie Roseman will need to be aggressive this offseason if the team wants to win another Super Bowl in 2026.

There are a few different areas that Philadelphia could look to improve. One of those areas comes in the secondary.

While the Eagles are not necessarily "weak" at the cornerback position, they could use a bit more talent. There is one intriguing free agent they are being urged to take a look at in free agency.

CBS Sports analyst Jared Dubin believes that Super Bowl champion and Seattle Seahawks cornerback Riq Woolen would be a nice fit in Philadelphia.

"The Eagles' second cornerback spot across from Quinyon Mitchell this year was a weak spot, and they could target an upgrade here," Dubin wrote. "Woolen has been up and down throughout his career, but he has high upside as a big, physical corner."

Woolen looked like a rising star early in his career with the Seahawks. However, there have been issues with him from a consistency standpoint.

During the 2025 NFL season with Seattle, Woolen played in 16 games. He racked up 41 total tackles to go along with an interception and 12 defended passes.

In his entire 64-game NFL career over four seasons, he has totaled 203 tackles, one forced fumble, four fumble recoveries, 12 interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and 53 defended passes.

At 26 years old, Woolen still has plenty of time left to work on his consistency. There is no denying the talent and potential that he possesses. A fresh start with the Eagles could be exactly what he needs to reach his full potential.

Expect to hear plenty of rumors surrounding Philadelphia as the NFL offseason heats up. Woolen may or may not end up being a target for the Eagles, but it's a move that could make some sense to improve the secondary.
