Eagles Veteran Has Hilarious Response to Apparently Unknown Role

The Philadelphia Eagles have yet to announce a backup quarterback, and if Nick Sirianni is going to continue to do similar things, we probably won't find out who the backup quarterback is until said player's are in the game.

Even if the Eagles announce a backup quarterback on their depth chart over the next 24 or so hours, there's really no guarantee that Sirianni won't have something else up his sleeve.

Given his comments on Wednesday, I genuinely wouldn't be surprised to see him go in many directions. For the quarterbacks in the room, I'd expect that they know what's going on, but they just aren't saying so.

Speaking to reporters, veteran Andy Dalton made it seem like he has no idea what's going on. There have been questions about whether the Eagles could move on from Dalton over the next couple of weeks, but for the immediate future, he seems to be a guy who is going to be on the roster and have a chance to play if Jalen Hurts goes down.

Regarding how he's preparing, if he's telling the truth, it doesn't sound like anything has really changed for Dalton in his decision-making.

“I've prepared the same way my whole career,” said Dalton, the long-time veteran, per NBCS Philadelphia. “I know my routine. I've got a process that I go through every day, each week, and so that doesn't change anything.

“I knew kind of what I was getting into and you know, we'll just wait and see what happens when everything does get finalized. But I've been in this role before, I've been in the backup role, I've been in the room where you're not the guy and you prepare like you're one play away. And that's the reality of it. So I think that's just kind of where I'm at.”

Not knowing who the backup quarterback is going to be if Hurts were to go down wouldn't make much sense from the Eagles'' perspective in terms of letting players know, so even if they don't want to tell the media because of a competitive advantage or for other reasons, there's absolutely no way that they can walk around without letting guys in their own quarterback room know.

Perhaps that's exactly what they're doing, but I'd be very surprised if that was the case.
