I don't really care much about how a team looks at this stage of the NFL offseason, but I know that isn't the case for everybody, so some of the struggles we're seeing in practice have to be talked about.
The Philadelphia Eagles, who had a lot of problems on the offensive side of things throughout the 2025-26 NFL season, are going to be one of the more looked-at teams this summer due to those offensive problems. If the Eagles can figure things out offensively, there's a lot of reason to believe that everything will be more than fine.
The early signs haven't been too promising just yet, though again, I'm not very worried. However, much of the talk has centered on how Jalen Hurts looks, and according to one reporter, it's been a rough few days for the Super Bowl-winning quarterback.
"Hurts worst throw of the day was also to Smith but it came early in practice," Eliot Shorr-Parks said on X. "Smith was open down the middle of the field but Hurts put it just too far in front of his outstretched arms. Smith wasn’t wide open but Hurts not giving Smith a real chance to make the play on the ball makes it a throw the QB will likely want back.
“At this point in the offseason you would expect the defense to be ahead of the offense considering how much longer one unit has been running their scheme as opposed to the new one the offense is running. Still, it has been a rough few practices for Hurts and the offense."
I'm going to give Hurts some time here because the offense is much different than it has been over the past few years. With Sean Mannion taking over, there are going to be some learning curves here and there, and the Eagles need to live with them at the moment.
Look, this is what happens when teams bring in new play callers and put together a new offense. There's even a good chance we'll see some struggles early next season due to everything changing.
