ESPN Analyst Expects Eagles to Be ‘Watchable’ Due to Likely Off-Field Drama

The Philadelphia Eagles are heading into 2026 with renewed confidence after a down 2025 season marked by a terrible offense.

Kevin Patullo was fired, and Sean Mannion was brought in. While there's not been a game yet, the signs are pointing towards things going a lot better this year than last. But after how unbearable the Eagles were to watch at times last year, what about 2026?

ESPN's Ben Solak ranked the Eagles No. 15 in his "watchability" rankings, right in the middle of the pack, thanks in part to the expected on- and off-field drama likely to ensue with Nick Sirianni's Eagles team.

"When have the Nick Sirianni-led Eagles not been dramatic?" Solak writes. "When they're bad? Still watchable. Incessant three-and-outs can be boring, but sideline drama never is."

Of course, A.J. Brown, one of the biggest sources of the off-field drama for the Eagles last year, is now with the New England Patriots.

But Solak still believes that the Eagles could be ripe with drama this upcoming season.

"...but we should still get a few terse sideline conversations between Sirianni and Hurts while Big Dom looms in the background ominously," Solak writes. "I'm guessing the new offense under coordinator Sean Mannion gives us a few of these moments, which will be good for internet reactions and Monday morning talk shows at the very least."

The Eagles have been heavily associated with off-field drama the last year, mainly revolving around A.J. Brown and Jalen Hurts. Of course, most of it isn't so detrimental to the team's chances week-by-week.

Solak believes the Eagles will be watchable this upcoming season, not necessarily because of the on-field production from the new-look offense and Vic Fangio's elite defense, but rather because of the drama that's sure to ensue at some point.

But if there isn't any drama, it likely means this Eagles team is thriving, in which case the defense is shutting opposing teams down and the offense is humming under Mannion.

The chance for a repeat of the 2025 season is a concern, and why Solak didn't grade the Eagles higher on this watchability ranking.

But there should be no denying that the Eagles are a team worth watching, as the star-studded roster could make for some great theater this upcoming season.
