A former wide receiver of the Philadelphia Eagles has found a new home.
Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Quez Watkins has signed with a new team for the 2026 NFL season.
Watkins has joined the Indianapolis Colts on their practice squad, with the possibility that he could be activated at some point. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported the news of Watkins' signing.
The Eagles took Watkins inn the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, with pick No. 200 overall. The former Southern Miss product spent four seasons with the Eagles, giving the team some nice depth at the wide receiver position.
With Philadelphia, Watkins was more used as a backup to others on the roster. His best season with the Eagles came in 2021, posting 43 catches for 647 yards and one touchdown, while playing in all 17 games.
The Eagles didn't see a need for him any longer, with the team looking to go in a different direction. But Watkins was a solid player for Philadelphia during his tenure, and he is still only 28 years old.
After leaving the Eagles, Watkins bounced around the NFL a little, never seeing the field in a regular season game. Watkins spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2023 preseason, but he was cut before the games started.
Watkins then joined the Arizona Cardinals on a reserve/future contract before last season, but he was placed on injured reserve before the year started. Arizona then released Watkins, and he rejoined the Eagles, only to be part of the final roster cuts.
The veteran wideout has been looking for a team since, and he now lands with the Colts for 2026. Over his career, Watkins has put up 98 catches for 1,249 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 12.7 yards per reception.
Now with Indianapolis, the former Eagles wide receiver will look to turn his career around with a team that desperately needs help. Indianapolis has lost some offensive players to injury this season, and if Watkins could perform up to par, he could become a part of the consistent rotation.
The Colts and Eagles play each other later this season, giving Watkins a potential chance to face his old team. If he can make the official roster in Indianapolis, he could stay long enough to be on the field against Philadelphia in December.
But for now, he will focus on trying to get back to a regular-season game with the Colts. And for the Eagles, they are looking to bounce back this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars after two straight losses.
