Former Fan Favorite Eagles Edge Named as Best Free Agent for Rival Cowboys

While the majority of the 2026 NFL offseason is done and over with, there are still some very interesting names out in free agency who could join teams.

As the Philadelphia Eagles know well from their late offseason additions over the years, teams can still find good players very late into the offseason.

One former Eagles fan favorite edge rusher is still a free agent, but, according to Alex Kay of Bleacher Report, this veteran pass rusher, Haason Reddick, has his best fit as the Dallas Cowboys this offseason.

"The Cowboys haven't shied away from rolling the dice on talented veterans with contract or performance concerns and could view Reddick as their next upside swing," Kay writes. "Best Fit: Dallas Cowboys."

Both the Eagles and Cowboys are willing to take chances on adding veterans who might not be perfect fits. While they don't all work out, these are moves well worth making in the eyes of both franchises.

Reddick, the former Eagles pass rusher who turned into a pass-rushing closer for the Eagles during his stint with the team, would be a great pickup for the Cowboys.

Of course, Reddick hasn't been nearly as good as he was with the Eagles the last couple of seasons. Contract dispute threw off his 2024 season, as he played in just 10 games with the New York Jets, recording only one sack.

Then in 2025, he played in 13 games for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, recording just 2.5 sacks in another down season.

He played just two seasons with the Eagles, but put up 16 and 11 sacks, earning his two Pro Bowl nominations, a second-team All-Pro, and a fourth-place finish in Defensive Player of the Year voting in 2022 during the Super Bowl run.

During that run, he led all players with 3.5 sacks in the playoffs and was a force to be reckoned with. But he's since fallen out of stardom and now sits in free agency, unsigned, months after free agency opened up.

But, with Reddick still looking for a new home, the Eagles might have to face him twice in 2026 if this "Best Fit" for Reddick comes to fruition with the Cowboys.

Dallas needs more help on the defensive side of the ball, and Reddick would make a lot of sense for the Cowboys as a high-quality rotational edge rusher.

It would be a bit unfortunate to see Reddick, someone who had such a great two-year stint with the Eagles, join the rival Cowboys. But, with this fit being so good for Reddick and the Cowboys, as Kay noted, Reddick to Dallas could actually happen this offseason.
