Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has received a clear message from a former NFL star before the 2026 season.
Since becoming the Philadelphia Eagles' starting quarterback during the 2020 NFL season, Jalen Hurts has found quite a bit of personal and team success with the franchise.
Hurts has continually performed well and produced good numbers each and every year. He has also led the Eagles on two Super Bowl runs, winning one of them. Many quarterbacks would feel safe after having that kind of success in their first six years with the team.
Unfortunately for the 28-year-old quarterback, Hurts has not stopped hearing his name thrown into the NFL rumor mill. He has also seen his name drop aggressively in the latest ESPN rankings.
Each and every offseason, rumblings have come out about Philadelphia being unhappy with Hurts as its starting quarterback. Hurts has seen his name thrown into trade rumors in recent years as well.
Despite the outside noise, Hurts has remained focused on playing winning football.
Heading into the upcoming 2026 NFL season, one former NFL star has spoken out with a clear message to Hurts. Greg Jennings believes that the quarterback has a chance to "change the narrative."
“The numbers have to be there," Jennings said. "He is definitely a winner. He’s been the beneficiary of really good teams. So now, I wanna see who are you. Jalen Hurts has the opportunity to change the narrative.”
Last season with the Eagles, Hurts ended up playing in 16 games. He completed 64.8 percent of his pass attempts for 3,224 yards, 25 touchdowns, and just six interceptions, while also running for 421 yards and eight more scores.
Throughout his entire six-year career, Hurts has played in 93 games. He has thrown for 17,891 yards, 110 touchdowns, and 45 interceptions, completing 64.4 percent of his passes. Hurts has carved up defenses to the tune of 3,554 yards and 63 scores on the ground.
For Hurts to take the next step, Philadelphia fans want to see more leadership. They want to see slightly more production as well.
Things have changed within the Eagles' offense. Star wide receiver A.J. Brown was traded to the New England Patriots this offseason. If Philadelphia sees the offense slip without Brown on the roster, Hurts is going to be the one blamed for it.
Even though he has had so much success through six seasons, Hurts is facing a lot of pressure. If he can rise above the pressure and turn in his best season, a lot of the outside noise will begin quieting down.
Hopefully, the Eagles are able to get just that from Hurts. If so, Jennings and the rest of the media will have its answer that Hurts is in Philadelphia to stay.
