Amid plenty of questions about the future of A.J. Brown with the Philadelphia Eagles, Howie Roseman continues to say a lot of the right things.
Whether it’s speculation about his future or teams looking to see if there’s any chance he could be moved, the rumors have been prevalent, though Roseman hasn’t played his hand just yet.
However, he spoke about it and didn’t try to avoid it or downplay it either. If anything, he understands why there are questions about the situation.
“I understand that there's interest in the A.J. Brown story. I, unfortunately, don't have a home under a rock,” he said, per ESPN. “But my answer to any question on A.J. Brown is A.J. Brown is a member of the Eagles. From my perspective, anything you ask me about A.J. Brown, I'm going to go right back to that answer. But I understand the interest. I put on TV and I see that there's interest, but my answer is A.J. Brown is a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Everything we're doing is based on the particulars of the players. There's nothing we're doing to do favors [for] ... anyone. We're basing players based on what they can bring to the team.”
There’s interest, and it makes sense, but that doesn’t mean a trade has to happen. From Roseman’s perspective, there seemingly isn’t some deal being hinted at or a situation that’s quietly building toward a move.
"Nothing has changed there. A.J. is an Eagle," head coach Nick Sirianni said. "Nothing's changed from the last time I spoke to you guys. That's where we are."
Brown is still one of the most important pieces of what Philadelphia does offensively, as he’s someone defenses have to be ready for on every snap. However, it’s important to recognize some of the bad he does, and it’s mostly due to his attitude.
It’s good to hear Roseman at least admit that there’s plenty of interest around the league. It’s possible that there’s little interest in him and he’s trying to run up his price, but the right things are being said regardless.
