The aggressive decisions that have defined the Philadelphia Eagles’ front office could once again be on full display on draft night. The Eagles need talent in the draft and with Howie Roseman always looking to accomplish that, don’t be surprised if he makes a trade to move up a few picks.
Rather than sitting back and letting the board fall to them, the Eagles were predicted to move up to No. 18 overall in a deal with the Minnesota Vikings by NFL.com’s Chad Reuter.
Jordyn Tyson would be the player the Eagles draft after doing so. The move itself would be something we’ve seen from Roseman time and time again.
“After a brief pause in 2024, Howie Roseman got back to trading first-round picks last year,” Reuter wrote. “He sticks to that habit by sending a late third- and fourth-round pick to the Vikings so he can snag another big-play machine for an Eagles offense that disappointed in 2025.”
That offensive struggles are key in taking a player like Tyson. Despite elite talent, Philadelphia struggled at times to do anything on that side of the football. This could also make trading someone like A.J. Brown easier, though it’s unfair and unrealistic to ask a rookie to come in and do what one of the best players in the world has done in his career.
There is, however, a risk in taking Tyson, as he dealt with some injuries in college.
“Tyson dealt with multiple injuries at the college level but could prove to be a steal here, thanks to his ability to win downfield,” Reuter wrote.
The Eagles are well-positioned to get better in this draft, so I expected them to do as such, no matter what it takes. Reuter also brought up the fact that the Eagles are expected to get comp picks, meaning they’ll have even more assets to use soon.
“I also project four draft-day trades in the first round and four compensatory picks at the end of the third round. The first three are projected to go to the Vikings, Eagles and Steelers for losing free agents, per Over the Cap. The fourth goes to the Lions because their defensive coordinator, Aaron Glenn, was hired as a minority head coach by the Jets last year -- that pick was traded to the Jaguars last April.”
